Clean & Tidy Home Show & The Hygiene Bank Press Release

Clean & Tidy Home Show

PRESS RELEASE

EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO A CLEAN AND TIDY HOME

London, 2 December 2021 – Throughout December, all proceeds from ticket sales for the Clean & Tidy Home Show, taking place at ExCel London on 8th & 9th October 2022, will go to The Hygiene Bank.

There can be many barriers that prevent people from having a clean and tidy home, including physical, psychological or emotional. For some, the biggest challenge is financial, with families left with nothing to spend on cleaning after they’ve spent the last of their budget feeding their children or paying their rent.

A recent study by The Hygiene Bank suggests that 1 in 5 people in the UK know someone or a family member who has or is experiencing hygiene poverty. 37% of the 2033 people surveyed said they are more aware of Hygiene Poverty as they have experienced it themselves in the past year. Before the pandemic, poverty touched every stage of life from babies to pensioners with over 14 million people living in poverty in the UK.

The charity states that hygiene poverty is “not being able to afford what we need to stay clean, something many of us take for granted. The reality for those experiencing poverty is they may not be able to afford washing up liquid for their homes, nappies for their babies or new toothbrushes for everyone in the family so no one has to share,” and that “feeling clean should not be a luxury or a privilege for anyone.”

The team behind the Clean & Tidy Home Show is dedicated to finding solutions for all budgets, which is why they’re donating all proceeds from December ticket sales to The Hygiene Bank.

Penny Moyses, Event Director of the Clean & Tidy Home Show, explained: “The Clean and Tidy Home Show is delighted to be working with the Hygiene Bank and we pledge to do as much as we can to support this great cause: increasing awareness of hygiene poverty, donating home hygiene products and raising vital funds to power projects. Everyone deserves a clean, safe and functional home that they can be proud of.”

Lizzy Hall, Founder of The Hygiene Bank, explained: “Those who don’t have the means to access hygiene products can be held back from fully participating and contributing to society. It can lead to a crippling lack of confidence and leave those affected feeling isolated, excluded, shamed, bullied and/or humiliated. Christmas time can be especially stressful, that’s why we started our #ITSINTHEBAG appeal to help those struggling to afford the basics by providing a gift of products they may otherwise go without.”

You can buy your tickets to the Clean & Tidy Home Show and give the gift of clean this Christmas here.

Not just a show, the Clean & Tidy Home Show has a community of home making enthusiasts who receive regular communications from the organisers, covering topics such as community and charitable support, encourage recycling and upcycling, educate on the circular economy and how to sell,  donate and swap unwanted items, advise on how to shop and live more ethically and provide information on how all of this can help combat mental health issues. The Shine Squad, the show’s team of ambassadors, have a combined reach of over 4 million.

Moyses explained: “We have created this show around some important values, which include sharing, collaboration and support. We are absolutely not about shame or creating unreachable goals… we believe that learning to make the most of what you have and feeling connected to your community are fundamental to our wellness, which is even more important than ever in the post-pandemic haze we’re all working through. We aim to encourage people to live more sustainably and more considerately to our planet and our fellow human beings, and as we all have to clean and tidy our homes, we think it should be fun too!”
