I’m Emma! A mother of 4 & a Home Organiser.
I began Declutter with Emma to help busy people feel calm and happy within their homes and I started on Social Media in January 2020 with absolutely no clue how to use it! I mainly use Instagram but I also have a Facebook page too. I find other people inspiring who talk about real life! I think it is so important to share the ups as well as the downs so that we all know we are not alone! My ultimate goal is to show people what a difference it can make when you reduce clutter& bring in organisation, not only to your space but also to your mind. I want to be able to support not only my clients but also my audience and show them that they can do it too!
How did you learn how to keep a home?
A lot of my learning came from my Mum and my grandmother,my Mum worked full time and ran the home, both women were very enthusiastic about home life, home decor & making your home a lovely environment to be in. I’ve learned a lot about running a home from having 4 children of my own, I’ve always been fascinated with home life & one of the biggest things I’ve learnt is to always be open to adapting, life changes will always mean things in the home need to change. Decluttering plays a huge role in that.
What is your favourite homemaking activity?
I’d have to say organising because I just love the way it makes me feel, it also helps me to relax and switch off from the everyday stuff that can consume us! The end result is always positive!
What homemaking product couldn’t you live without?
This is so hard to choose! I LOVE a lazy susan as they can be used just about everywhere but equally I could not be without my Shark hoover its just the best!
Do you ever feel overwhelmed? How do you cope?
Yes absolutely! Sometimes it can just feel like there are never ending jobs that always need doing, especially the housework. When I feel like this I always make a list, I find it really helps me to get things onto paper and out of my head! I just put aside an hour to make a start and often find that I get a lot more done than I thought I would. As a busy working Mum it can be difficult to stick to a routine with housework but by breaking things down and working out what is important it can really help. We can only do so much in a day! Organisation also means that any tidying is always so much easier to do as everything has a home and a place to go.
Why is #shinenotshame important to you?
I think the barriers & expectancy of keeping a perfect home need to be broken, I don’t think that anyone should feel shame within their homes, homes are where real life happens and there is so much to juggle.I feel like we should all be able to ask for help, advice & support within our homes when we need it regardless of our situations.
What is an interesting fact about you?
Hmmmm, well I’m terrified of frogs does that count?
