Hi I’m Hannah - the founder of Ava May Aromas, which is a home fragrance business based in South Yorkshire. I started out 5 years ago, and have been lucky enough to build my company through social media, which in turn has led me to meet lots of incredible people, especially in the cleaning community. From the cleaning community & from my own fragrance journey, I’ve learnt a fair amount over the past few years.
Making sure our surroundings smell beautiful and fragrant can make a huge difference to our mood and overall wellbeing. I wanted to share my top tips that I’ve learnt to make your home smell great - regardless of your budget.
● Wax Melts (shop the range we have to choose from here)
○ Wax melts have exploded over the last few years in popularity. They have become the core product of my business and it’s easy to see why people love them so much. Not only are they super affordable in comparison to candles, but they are so powerful, plus you can change the fragrance whenever you want to. One cube will last for 2-3 tealights (4 hour)
○ Top tip - If you want to change your wax melt simply light a tealight, place into the wax melter, then after 30 seconds the wax should slide out easily with no mess / fuss
● Reed Diffusers (shop the range we have to choose from here)
○ A flameless fragrance alternative - reed diffusers are a great way to keep your home smelling fresh without having to light anything. They’re super long lasting (up to 3-4 months before they need a refill) and also aesthetically pleasing too.
○ Tip - Flip your reeds 1x week to give your fragrance a kick
○ Tip - Place a reed diffuser in your hallway / near to your front door - so that every time you or a visitor walks in they’re instantly greeted with a beautiful scent
● Room Sprays (shop the range we have to choose from here)
○ If you’ve whizzed round the house having a tidy up and need to give a room a boost - room sprays are ideal. The fragrance hit is instant & the Ava May room sprays last for hours. If you’ve got people coming over, and only minutes to spare grab a room spray and spritz quickly - they’ll never know!
○ Tip - a spritz on car mats will make your car smell incredible - trust us you’ll be getting comments from passengers in no time wanting to know your secret
● Candles (shop the range we have to choose from here)
○ Nothing will ever beat a candle when it comes to de-stressing and winding down. My favourite time to light one is when I have a bath running and a good book to read.
○ Tip - Always make sure you melt a candle to the very edge of the jar to get a nice clean even burn - otherwise your candle will tunnel and you won’t get the most from it
● Aroma Oils (shop the range we have to choose from here)
○ Another fragrance product which has become increasingly popular over the past couple of years are aroma oils. Oils have been around for a long time when used in burners - but the rise in popularity of electric aroma diffusers has changed the game. Electric diffusers offer another flameless fragrance alternative and the beauty of oils is that you can control the strength. Simply add a few drops, set your diffuser to the time you wish and leave it to do the rest. Electric diffusers are definitely an investment initially but the aroma oils only require a few drops and one bottle will last for months.
○ Tip - Turn an electric diffuser on in your bedroom with a relaxing scent an hour before you go to bed. Once you head up, your room will be gently scented with a lovely fragrance to help you drift off.
I hope you find the home fragrance that works for you! Remember, if it makes you feel good, then that’s all that matters. You can shop the rest of our products at:
