Tell us a bit about yourself....
Hello there! I’m Jade I am 33 years old, I am from Yorkshire but now living in Norfolk with my two little ones. Well I say little ones Harvey is 12 this year & Esme (The honey badger to those that know us) is three, my partner Danny, my two Pups & my devil cat.
I used to work in the care sector, I wanted to be a nurse or work for CQC but I left that job after having my daughter and due to my health. I now work with my Mum (Big Shopper) which is amazing as I get to spend everyday with my family which I love.
I set up my page on the 3rd of April 2020, I never thought anything would come of it. So I kept it a secret from everyone around me. Now two years on this page has became part of my life. I have made some incredible friends, I have worked with amazing brands. I worked with Minky and the Samaritans charity which was incredible.
The people in the cleaning community have helped me so much.
How did you learn how to keep a home?
I have always had a love of cleaning since I can remember. I always helped my Mum around the house growing up, I learnt how to clean from my Mum and my Nana. I couldn’t wait to have my own home so when I moved out my addiction to cleaning products began. I enjoy trying new products so I was thrilled when I found out there was a whole community of like minded people out there. I have picked up many tips & tricks since starting my account as well.
What is your favourite homemaking activity?
I can’t pick a favourite task I do in my home, I love it all other than ironing. I do genuinely enjoy cleaning. I have an overwhelming sense of satisfaction once a room is clean and everything is in its place. I love the smell of fresh laundry which is a good thing as laundry really is a never ending story.
What homemaking product couldn’t you live without?
I don’t think I could live without my washing up liquid & white vinegar. These products are so versatile, even if I ran out of all other cleaners these two could do cleaning tasks around the home.
Do you ever feel overwhelmed? How do you cope?
At times I find myself feeling overwhelmed, trying to balance everything can be so hard as I’m sure so many can relate. There was a time I wouldn’t sit down until my house was clean and tidy but I realised this was unhealthy.
I struggle with my health as well so some days I physically can’t do everything I want to do. I have learnt to talk about this and ask for help. I also break tasks down, I don’t have time to do a full deep oven or washing machine clean, so I will do bits of it over the course of a few days.
I also like to have a quick ten minute tidy. It’s amazing what you can achieve in 10 minutes. I encourage my children to pick up after themselves as well which does help so much.
Why is #shinenotshame important to you?
#shinenotshame is so important to me because we never know what someone is going through I know this as this is me! Some days I have my life together, my home is clean, tidy, I have meals prepped and I feel like superwoman. Other days I don’t even have the strength to take off my mucky dressing gown because of my health. Or some days I don’t have the motivation as let’s be honest keeping on top of a home is a never ending task, more so when you have little ones.
I also love to help people, I have come across so many people that honestly don’t know how to clean and there is no shame in that as we all have to start somewhere. I would never want anyone to feel embarrassed about that either. I had no idea how amazing citric acid was until I started my account and I am so glad I picked this up as it’s now a staple in my cleaning cupboard.
What is an interesting fact about you?
An interesting fact about me is I love to sing, I have always loved it. When I was younger I would sing in school plays but as I've gotten older I now get so embarrassed. Karaoke nights were my favourite after a glass of wine with my friends. Now the only person that hears me sing my daughter when no one else is around although I am really looking forward to having a go in the karaoke booth at the Clean & Tidy Home Show!
